Q. Is the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problem really an epidemic?
A. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) themselves have declared indoor air quality as the nation's worst environmental health problem, and have also warned that indoor air is generally 2 to 10 times worse than outdoor air pollution. Plus, asthma and hay fever are becoming much more prevalent and severe in recent years directly as a result of rapidly worsening indoor air quality.

Q. How do we know that increased problems with asthma and sinus allergies is largely a result of the Indoor Air Quality epidemic?
A. Asthma and sinus allergy problems took a sharp turn for the worse about 20 years ago. Not coincidentally, houses and buildings began to be constructed in an air-tight fashion about 20 years ago in an effort to gain more energy-efficiency, as a result of the energy crisis of the 1970s. However, more and more studies are showing that this tight construction is creating an extremely unhealthy environment for breathing, by trapping pollutants indoors, while keeping natural air-cleansing agents out. We are also finding out that asthma problems are much more a result of environmental triggers than anything else, and most people spend more than 90% of their time inside, which means that indoor air pollutants affect our health far more than outdoor air pollutants.

Q. Can a Biozone Air Purifier replace the need for asthma medication?
A. No, but Biozone Air Purifiers can definitely help reduce the amounts needed by you or a family member. Many asthma medications that asthmatics take are reactive, meaning they are taken to relieve asthma attacks (generally caused by environmental triggers). Removing environmental triggers such as airborne allergens and contaminates from the air will decrease asthma problems, enabling a reduction in medication. Considering all the side effects and financial costs imposed by asthma medications, you would probably appreciate this a great deal.

Q. How do I know if my home or building has an indoor air quality problem?
A. Virtually every home is affected, so it's likely your home has an air quality problem to some extent. This is especially true if your home or building was built in the last 20 years, or if it has several sources of indoor air pollution (many will probably surprise you). If you have asthma or some other respiratory condition (such as hay fever) then you are probably more sensitive to indoor air quality. Also, if your home has excessive moisture, or if you have a chronic leak, then you are more likely to have mold or dust mite problems.

Q. What are common sources for indoor air pollutants?
A. Dust, people (dead skin, hair, perfume, etc.), carpet, plywood and other construction materials, mattresses, furnishings, pillows, blankets, HVAC systems, household cleaning products, fabric cleaning products, air fresheners, aerosols, insecticides, humidity, anything moist, pets, insects and other bugs, food, cigarette smoke (see  Sources for Indoor Air Pollution for more detail.)

Q. Since Biozone air cleaners do not rely on air filters, how do they clean the air?
A. Biozone negative ion and ozone air purifiers clean the air inside the same way nature does outside, by emitting the world's most powerful and pure air-cleansing agents: negative ions, ultraviolet light, and moderate, controlled amounts of ozone. These purifying agents attack biological contaminants at a molecular level, and oxidize other particulate matter, in addition to attaching to contaminants and removing them from the air by making them too heavy to remain airborne (where you can inhale them).

Q. How do negative ions and ozone work?
A. Negative ions are negatively-charged electrical particles that are magnetically attracted to allergens and other airborne contaminates, which are positively-charged. The newly-formed larger particles are than able to fall harmlessly to the ground, and out of the air we breathe.

Ozone oxidizes (burns) pollutants, destroying them altogether. The ozone molecule (O3) is highly reactive, so whenever it encounters a floating particulate, one of the oxygen atoms breaks away to oxidize the pollutant. This leaves behind O2 (pure oxygen), refreshing the air even more. Ozone has the 2nd highest oxidation potential out of all the elements.

Q. What happens to the ionized particle once it falls to the ground?
A. It becomes too heavy to remain airborne and falls to a nearby surface. The most important thing is that these microscopic pollutants are out of the air you breathe, which renders them harmless. If they're not in the air, they cannot find their way into your lungs where they do their damage. Remember, these are microscopic particles we are talking about, not specks of dirt, so your floors, furniture, and other surfaces will not suddenly become "dirty" once these pollutants begin falling out the air. It is possible, though, for these particulates to be collected as a result of your routine cleaning, like vacuuming and dusting. It is also possible for these particles to become "kicked up" again into the air. Fortunately, Biozone air purifiers produce a continual supply of negative ions and low levels of ozone, which means "kicked up" particulates will find themselves grounded again very quickly.

Q. Can ozone be dangerous?
A. Yes, but only when occurring in extremely high concentrations - much higher than what a Biozone ozonating air purifier is capable of producing. Ozone is much like just about any other element in that it has its range of effects. It is harmless or useful at moderate concentrations, but harmful at extremely high levels. Take table salt for example, which provides essential fortification for nerve cells and the kidneys, and prevents heat stress disorders at lower concentrations. At higher levels though, salt can result in hypertension and cardiac failure. Biozone Air Purification Units will not produce ozone at a level higher than what is considered healthy in outdoor settings (see: Safe Ozone Levels - Guaranteed), and do not surpass the Federal Government safety guideline of 0.05 - 0.06 ppm. In fact, our units only need a tiny bit of ozone to fuel our unique purifying process using hydroxyl radicals, which are three times more powerful than ozone.

Q. What's a purifying hydroxl or hydroxyl radical?
A.
Hydroxyl radicals, which occur naturally in our atmosphere, are formed when an oxygen singlet (O1) plucks a Hydrogen atom (H) from natural humidity (H2O) to form the radical OH.

This hydroxyl radical is 33% more effective at oxidizing pollutants in the air than ozone, and 2.5 times more germicidal and fungicidal than chlorine, making them the most effective method of destroying mold, bacteria, viruses, and germs that you can buy. Biozone's proprietary process produces large volumes of these powerful air cleaning agents with only a very small amount of ozone - far less than what is required by other ozonating air cleaners.

Q. What features should I look for when purchasing an air purifier? How can I tell if one is better than another?
A. When you purchase an air purifier, the most important things to consider are what the machine can remove from the air and how it removes it.  Look at the particulate size the machine is capable of removing, square-footage coverage, cost per square foot purified, cost of replacement parts and how often they need to be replaced, electricity cost, noise generated, warranty, physical size, money-back guarantee.  We're confident that we offer you the most technologically-advanced, affordable air cleaning unit on the market today and the longest warranty in the industry. Our units consistently out-perform other air cleaners in all categories.

Q. Is a Biozone air purifier better than a HEPA air filter?
A. A hepa air filter can only remove particles as small as 0.3 microns from the air, while Biozone units can remove particles as small as 0.01 microns from the air. Biozone air purifiers can also clean much larger areas than HEPA air filters that are even close to the same cost. HEPA air cleaners rely on an air filter, therefore only cleans the air that passes through them. Biozone air purifiers electronically emit nature's most powerful air-cleansing agents to seek out pollutants.

Biozone air cleaners are also much more cost-efficient than hepa air filters. To begin with, HEPA air filters must be replaced regularly, costing as much as a few hundred dollars each time. Biozone Air Purifiers do not use parts requiring frequent replacement - just a $36 bulb to replace once a year. HEPA air filters are also far more costly to run in terms of electricity costs. Finally, HEPA air purifiers often run on a small motor, which sounds like a lawnmower when turned on. Biozone Air Purifiers barely make any noise at all.

Q. What if I buy a Biozone air purifier, and it doesn't work as well as I had hoped?
A. Thanks to our 100% Ironclad Guarantee, you are guaranteed satisfaction or you will be refunded all of your money. You are given a 30-day risk-free period from the day your machine arrives at your home or building. You can return the machine any time during this period and receive a full refund (see Guarantee Page for details).

Q. Does a returned air cleaner have to arrive at EBR Ventures within the 30-day risk-free period in order for me to get my money back, if I decide to return it?
A. No. It just needs to be post-marked by the final day of your 30-day risk-free period, and you must obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization from EBR Ventures and a return address before returning the unit.

Q. Is there any cost to me whatsoever if I decide to return an air purifier during the 30-day risk-free period?
A. The only cost you could ever incur if you return your machine is the cost to ship it back to us. This would cost you about $10 (give or take a few bucks depending where you ship from). Wouldn't you agree that this is a very reasonable cost to determine whether or not an Biozone unit is the air-cleaning solution you've been hoping for to help you and your family breathe better? Of course, we're extremely confident you will be pleased with our products, which is why we are willing to risk the cost of having machines returned.

Q. How do Biozone air purifiers compare to other ozone generators / negative ion generators?
A. Biozone air purifiers do not use glass plates like other negative ion and ozone generators. As a result, they do not require maintenance, and do not produce oxides of nitrogen like air cleaners that do use glass plates. Oxides of nitrogen can result in a "metallic" or "bleach-like" odor that many find unpleasant. These oxides can also serve as a minor lung irritant if occurring in high enough concentrations.
